Mrs Julia Thomas Haigh
Described by Estyn as "inspirational" with "an extremely clear-sighted vision,” Mrs Thomas is the positive driving force behind Ysgol Heulfan. She ensures all staff are ahead of the game, aware of new strategies and the latest initiatives. Mrs Thomas is loved by all the children in the school whom she refers to as her "angels".
Well respected within the Local Authority, Mrs Thomas is often called upon to provide support and guidance to other schools. Following the school's assessment for the prestigious Inclusion Award in 2011, Mrs Thomas was then approached by the company behind the award who were very impressed with her leadership and management skills. Mrs Thomas is now an assessor for the award, visiting schools across England and Wales.
A keen gardener and traveller, Mrs Thomas inspires our children with rewards such as trips to Wimbledon, rides in limousines, camping trips, shopping expeditions and lots, lots more. She is always available to parents and children and goes over and above to help families and our local community.
Mum to the gorgeous A.G. who is a happy member of Ysgol Heulfan, Mrs Thomas is kept busy at home as the whole family enjoy cycling. Her husband Russ regularly 'volunteers' to carry out work in and around the school with the children, and is valued by staff and children alike.
Mrs Lesley Morris
Miss Positivity herself – Mrs Morris is always smiling and full of enthusiasm! Leading the whole school on initiatives involving the community such as our Community Matters Club, Mrs Morris strives to ensure that all our children are happy and that our school remains a stress free environment.
Mrs Morris has led the school in achieving the coveted ECO Schools Award for the fourth year.
Mrs Morris enjoys reading, cookin, socialising alongside husband Chris and spending lots of time with her gorgeous grandson, Evan.
Miss Kathy Jones
Based within Y Canol, Miss Kathy leads our school in Inclusion and ensures that the opportunities we offer are made available to all our children. With a specialist knowledge in teaching children who have Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD) and Profound and Multiple Leaning Disabilities (PMLD). Miss Kathy is one of our most creative members of staff and her displays/role play areas are often the envy of other teachers!
Keeping her busy at home, Miss Kathy has two teenage sons and loves listening to live music.
Mrs Rebecca Billington
Mrs Billington teaches our Nursery children every morning in Early Years 1. With an interest in technology and a love of data 'number crunching', she leads our school in the assessment and tracking of all our children, ensuring we provide the best possible support to help everyone achieve. In May 2014 she achieved the National Professional Qualification for Headship (NPQH).
Mrs Billington has two children, three horses, one dog and her husband Keith, who all keep her very busy at home.
